Ride Across Britain

9th August 2019

62-year old Dr. William Tan has successfully completed a 1,550km hand-cycle challenge across Britain from Land's End to John-O'-Groats with 3 other British cyclists aiming to raise USD 110,000 for women with breast cancer. He completed the event in 9 days, doing an average of 170km for about 10 hours a day. Land's End to John o' Groats is the traversal of the whole length of the island of Great Britain between two extremities, in the southwest and northeast.

Dr. William expressed this was one of the most challenging yet. According to the data by the ride’s organizer, the team climbed twice the height of Mt Everest in total for the ride, noting that the terrain of Scotland is particularly challenging. This is part of Dr. William's initiative to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation Singapore and Bloodwise UK.

Dr. William is a survivor of stage 4 leukaemia, both his sisters had breast cancer hence the cause is something very close to Dr. William’s heart.

The London Speaker Bureau Asia sponsored Dr. William Tan’s travel and lodging for this meaningful adventure.
